Reading Comprehension

article link: http://blog.scifi.com/tech/archives/2006/10/26/liquid_bandage.html

This is an interesting article about some scientific researchers that have made bandages out of liquids. When you are reading the article, you should keep two things in mind.

1.) What is the main point of the article?
2.) What are the supporting details?

Improving your reading comprehension can be accomplished by first answering what is the main point of the article. In this article the main point of the article is the introduction of liquid bandages. The supporting details are additional information about the bandages.

An additonal point to consider is not knowing certain vocabulary. You should not let yourself get caught up in the vocabulary. In the next post I will discuss vocabulary in context, which is the ability to guess the meaning of unknown words from the way they are used in a sentence.

The fastest street legal car in the world

Hi everyone,

Here's an interesting article on the fastest street legal car on the road. I don't know about you, but would you prefer to be able to beat a Porsche in a race, or would you prefer something with a little more style? Either way, definitely an interesting article.

Spam

Well, as you can see, the forums have been removed from the free section of eslstudyguide.com because of the recent excessive spam. It is very unfortunate! As the site becomes bigger it is important that the website can be easily maintained and is Spam free without requiring an excessive amount of time policing it. Therefore, the forums have been put in the members section.

I have started a new blog, and any interesting article or videos will be posted here from now on. You can still post comments to the blog but they must be approved first before they can show up. This should hopefully put an end to the problems with spam. As you can see, the site is finally taking shape nicely. I have to admit, starting from scratch and watching it grow is like having a child. You watch the birth, then watch as it slowly begins to grow. However, like many parents, when do you ever get a night out ; )
